Changing site description- longer text??

  Last night I managed to set a site description somewhere in the dashboard (under an SEO tab, I think) to appear in searches, it allowed up to 160 characters.My site tagline remained the same. Today when sharing the site on social media it appears with the longer description instead of the tagline beside it and I want to delete the longer description, but can’t for the life of me get back to where I wrote it in the first place- I’ve looked everywhere Please help me! I can’t share until this is sorted, it doesn’t look good!

  OK, I found it again in the new editor under settings>general>SEO, was nowhere to be seen on the dashboard. I would still love to know if there’s a way to stop the meta description (if that’s what it is) from replacing the tagline when sharing the blog.
