I recently got married and purchased the domain melissamorrissey.com. I want to keep the content of melissaunderwoodsievers.com, but replace the URL with melissamorrissey.com. I’ve read the tips and tutorials but am concerned I’ll wipe out the old content in the process of renaming the site. Please help.

Hi there!
You can change the domain of melissaunderwoodsievers.com by transferring your new domain to that same site. Then you’ll have all of the content under the new domain.
To do this, go to Store > My Upgrades in the dashboard of maumorrissey.wordpress.com:
https://maumorrissey.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades
And follow these directions to transfer your Domain upgrade:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#transferring-upgrades
Let me know if I can help further!

I did that and now when I type the old address melissaunderwoodsievers.com it redirects to melissamorrissey.com and no content comes up.

Hi there!
It looks like instead of transferring melissamourrisey.com to your site with content, you transferred melissaunderwoodsievers.com to your site without content.
I’ve moved both of these domains to your site with content – melissaunderwoodsievers.wordpress.com. So they should both show your content now. If the wrong URL appears in the address bar, you can change this by setting the Primary Domain through Store > My Domains.
-
But I’m trying to move all the content to melissamorrissey.com. I’m afraid to try and goof again. Nothing comes up if I type melissamorrisey.com. I just purchased the domain today. Is that the problem? Sorry to be a pain. Trying to correct all things today since I got married.

Sorry for the confusion. None of your readers will see the WordPress.com URL under your site. So you can keep all of your content at melissaunderwoodsievers.wordpress.com and just set up your domain to point to it, which is what I did.
Since your domain is brand new, it will take a few hours for the DNS settings to fully propagate and have the domain fully functional. Check back in a few hours and everything should be sorted out.
Does that clarify things? Let me know if you have any questions!

Just so you know, the domain you registered is melissamorrisey.com with only one s in your last name. That domain seems to be working correctly.
The domain melissamorrissey.com (with two s’s) appears to have been registered in 2010 by someone else:
http://who.is/whois/melissamorrissey.com
You do have 48 hours to cancel a new domain registration, so if you’d like to cancel this domain. I’m more than happy to issue a refund so that you can register a different domain.
Let me know how you’d like to proceed.
-
Yes. Please cancel it. OMG. My brain. How difficult will it be for me to make the transfer when I register a new domain?
-
Hi there,
I’ve just canceled your domain melissamorrisey.com and issued a refund. Please note that it can take up to a week for a refund to appear on you bank account.
You won’t need to go through the whole transferring process again if you purchase the domain through the dashboard of your site with content. Just go to Store > My Domains when you’re visiting your active site. There you can register a new domain and it will be automatically assigned to that site.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with!

Sorry. I mean melissaunderwoodmorrissey.com is still not showing content from melissaunderwoodsievers.com

It looks like you added the domain to the wrong site again. I’ve moved your domain over and it should start working very soon!
