Changing the name of the blog.

    Someone set up the WordPress blog for me, because I was having PC issues and was unable to do it myself (this was done because of the Tumblr issues, which had a time limit). For some reason he titled my blog ‘Rikyu Era Chanoyu.’ The name should be ‘Chanoyu to wa.’ I tried to change it, but I keep seeing ‘Rikyu Era Chanoyu’ and I do not want to see that name. How do I get rid of it permanently? Thank you for your help.

    burkus828944642.wordpress.com is showing to me as Chanoyu to wa.

    Actually, that URL “burkus828944642.wordpress.com” looks like a holocaust registration number (and it gives me the shudders every time I see it). I know that chanoyu-to-wa.wordpress.com links to the blog. But I do not want to even see the other URL — and it is what the site shows as the default URL whenever I work on the pages.

    My question was how to remove it completely, so I never see it again. I do not want to see it — maybe you can understand why.

    If there is no way to get rid of it, I will have to delete the account. It upsets me that much.

    Hi there @danielmburkus,

    Changing your site’s title and changing the site’s address are two different things.
    1. Site Title: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/general-settings/#changing-your-site-title-and-tagline
    2. Site Address: https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-site-address/

    About registering a free site: WordPressdotcom automatically adds numbers on to free site addresses unless you come up with a unique name in front of the .wordpress.com part.

    You can either change the current site address following the guide in the link under #2, or you can start a completely new, free WordPressdotcom website under this account with a different address then export the content from the old site and import that content to the new site. This process is also explained under the 2nd guide I linked to. Once your content is successfully imported to your new site, you can delete the old website address following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

    FWIW- I do not see that either alternative site address you mentioned has been registered.
