Changing to Bluehost
-
Hi, I just got a refund on my domain name, and have tried to set up the same name on bluehost, as im now interested in using a wordpress.org set up. However, bluehost says the domain is taken, what do i do? Do I have to wait for a while before I can set up the domain somewhere else, or is it gone forever?
Also, how do I then transfer my content over?

Unfortunately, as stated during cancellation, we cannot guarantee that you’ll be able to re-register the same domain name.
Cancelled domain names become the property of our registrar partner and are returned to the public market at their discretion. I have seen this take anywhere from 5 to 90 days after cancellation.
If you are able to re-register the domain, or choose a different one, you can transfer the contents of your blog following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

really?
I need that domain for my business, is there any way I can contact those that register it? When logged in the dash, I cancelled the value bundle but was more than happy with the domain name. I wouldn’t have minded keeping it, but didn’t see an option to.
Is there any way I can contact the people that registered the name, I need to sort this out asap.

We were able to recover the domain.
Since we refunded your entire upgrade, I have send a payment request for $17 (the price of the domain) to the email address on your account.
Please let us know when the funds have been sent so we can restore the domain to your account.

Fantastic news, and thanks for the quick action macmanx. This has saved me alot of stress.

curtismoldrich.com has been returned to your account.
You are welcome to keep your domain with us and update the nameservers to point to another hosting provider by following this guide:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameserversAfter 60 days from the date of purchase, renewal, or nameserver change, you may also transfer your domain to another registrar.

Hi Macmanx,
My domain still isnt working, is this normal?. I’d like to use bluehost as a host, so do I have to wait for the domain to start working, or can I go ahead and input the domain when setting up my bluehost account anyway.

The domain appears to be working, but the nameservers are not pointed to us.
Since you want to point them to Bluehost anyway, you can change the nameservers following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
