Changing to WordPress

  Hi, I currently use Wix but want to move my domain to WordPress however the site won’t even allow me to create an account because it says my chosen domain name is taken. Yes it is, it’s mine. How do I proceed?

  Hi –

  You’ll want to get the site set up first and then move the domain as the last step.

  Try going to https://wordpress.com/pricing/ and click on the free plan. Then you’ll register a free site address and build the site on that.

  There are 2 options for connection the domain. Both require a plan upgrade to the personal option (but you can wait and do that once ready to connect the domain).
  1. mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
  2. transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/
