Changing website developers’ email address to organisation (owner) email address which has a non-active WordPress account

  An account was set up using the organisation’s generic email address. (only used for a try-out account and explore what WordPress is) It was never used to actually set up the organisation’s website.
  Now we do need this new website (set up by a developer) to be transferred to the account using this generic email address, as we are the owner.
  Do we need to close the account which used the generic email address first and wait 30 days before we can transfer email- address as being the real owner of this website (and not the website developer). We will than as the owner be able to do the 2 way identification and be in our own ‘control’ over the website we paid for.
  Do you need to wait these 30 days?
  Or is there another way to do this?
