CHARGED ON A FREE PLAN!?

    I’m very frustrated! I had a WP.org hosted site and recently started the free WP.com while I set up my other domain on a WP.org. However, I have a credit card charge for $17 from WordPress. There is nothing in my billing history and I’m definitely on a free plan (I can see it on my dashboard).

    Any ideas on a) What this is and b) How I can even contact anybody about this!?

    Surely you wouldn’t need to enter credit card details if you’re creating a free site here. $17 seems an odd amount too. You can check if the charge is from WordPress.com at https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/

    The account you’re using to post here has never bought anything from us, and we don’t have a credit card on file for you, so it’s not possible that we could have charged you.

    $17 could be for a domain mapping upgrade, provided it’s Canadian Dollars. Have you ever had a custom domain mapped to a WordPress.com site in another account?

You can also use the Contact Us link on that page to contact our billing support team directly for further help with this – to track down the transaction we’ll need to get some additional information from you which we cannot discuss here in the public forums.
