Checking if WP still holds my domain

    Hey folks, I’m in the process of migrating my WordPress.com site to .org but I’m noticing the domain I bought (yellaholes.com – it’s a blog of my writing!) as part of WPs Personal plan last year (the license for which elapsed a week ago) is still showing as owned. So I’m just checking that it’s still not registered with WP as I’d like to use that domain with a different host this time around.

    Hi there,

    From what I can see your domain yellaholes.com was “mapped” here using the domain mapping upgrade in the plan. To explain, this is a way to connect a domain you own (with another company) to your WordPress.com site so you can use it as your site address.

    However, mapping is not the same as a domain transfer, so your domain was never actually transferred to us, and is still under your Hover/Tucows account according to what I see here: https://gwhois.org/yellaholes.com+dns

    You can contact them directly for assistance in recovering the domain (which I see is expired on their end) and connecting it to your new host.
