Claim the domain registered via Personal plan

    I recently purchases the Personal plan with a domain. I cancelled the plan, but is unable to claim the domain since it is already registered. How can I claim back the domain. I want the same domain since I am planning to do self-hosting. How can I release the domain from wordpress and make it available for re-registration.

    Hello there,

    I have checked your account and can confirm that the domain is undergoing the cancellation process. When a domain is cancelled it is not immediately available for registration on another registrar. You can read more about the stages of domain here.

    If this helps, the domain is still with WordPress.com undergoing the cancellation process, and if you like we can help you restore it at WordPress.com. You can continue to have the domain with WordPress.com and if you like you can use it with the WordPress.com site or connect it to a self-hosted site. You can follow this guide to manage the DNS to point the domain to a self-hosted site:

    After 60 days, you can also transfer the domain to another registrar.
