Clarification related to New Ed.Tech Startups

We are just looking forward for some clarifications to start the Ed.tech Website on WordPress having some doubts on our minds if any one clarifies the points will be helpful for us.
1. Do we have to pay monthly in annual plan on a contractual basis or is it a one time payment?
2. Is there any customized plan more suited to our needs? If yes, please explain the features and pricing for such plans.
3. What are the payment gateways and modes of payments supported in different plans.
4. What is the maximum throttle limit for users on my server. If it exceeds the same what would be the additional charges?
5. What security features do we get for networking for available plans apart from SSL security?
6. Do we get access to physical location of servers where the disk data is going to be stored?
7. performance of User interface.
8. What the cost comes if we want to design the Service oriented architecture(SOA) for the same platform.
9. Does the CMS(Content Management System) have an adequate text editor to create pages and posts?
10. How are the features to integrate third party tools with the CMS?
11. What is the weekly bounce rate for the package including the SEO.We will really appreciate if more people will come and advise us regarding the solutions.

Hi there,
I’m not exactly sure what you meant by ed.tech, can you clarify? is this the URL of a site you are working on?
I should clarify that WordPress.com is not the only provider of WordPress sites, and some of the questions you are asking will depend on who you use to host your site. If you host with us directly, my answers will apply. If you plan to host with another WordPress provider, I definitely recommend asking them directly as well.
1. Do we have to pay monthly in annual plan on a contractual basis or is it a one time payment?
Our upgrades are offered in either monthly or yearly options, but we do not have any “one time payment” options in this case.
2. Is there any customized plan more suited to our needs? If yes, please explain the features and pricing for such plans.

We recommend the Premium plan for most folks starting out with a site for their business or other organization. If you need specific functionality that we don’t offer by default, we recommend our Business Plan, which will allow you to upload any plugin or theme “built for WordPress” and would allow for essentially unlimited customization options.
We don’t offer a “customized plan” at this time, I’m curious if you can tell us more about what you would be looking to customize, thanks for the additional info!

Is there something specific you are looking for with regard to the ability to accept payments? If you can tell us a bit more about what you are trying to set up we’re happy to suggest what would be the best fit for your use case.
4. What is the maximum throttle limit for users on my server. If it exceeds the same what would be the additional charges?
We don’t currently limit bandwidth or access for any of our sites (including free sites) so there is no extra charge for high traffic spikes. We use a network of globally distributed servers to provide resources for all sites we host, and we manage load sharing automatically so there are no issues.
The only real limitation to be aware of at the account level is the amount of storage space you have in your media library for image/document/audio uploads. Each plan has a different limit for that and you can find out more here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
5. What security features do we get for networking for available plans apart from SSL security?

6. Do we get access to physical location of servers where the disk data is going to be stored?
If you upgrade to our Business Plan, you do have access to your account via FTP. Generally speaking though with a WordPress site all your contents are managed in the “media library” and there is an upload interface in the WordPress dashboard to allow you to upload content. Is there a specific reason you would need this kind of direct access? With a bit more info we’re happy to address that directly

The interface is the same regardless of upgrade level, and our upgrades would only unlock new features and capabilities within the UI that all sites share in common.
8. What the cost comes if we want to design the Service oriented architecture(SOA) for the same platform.
WordPress.com is a fully managed WordPress site host, where we take care of all server configuration, security, backups, and support for sites on our network. Because of this we do not offer per-account server configuration options. In that event we recommend researching traditional web hosting options, as most web hosts also offer a way to install the WordPress software for a “self-hosted WordPress site”
9. Does the CMS(Content Management System) have an adequate text editor to create pages and posts?
Yes, we use a “block editor” that affords the ability to create rich page layouts using text and image “blocks” so no code is needed. More info here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/
I also recommend creating a free WordPress.com site so you can try it out for yourself, as it is the same editor that is used regardless of upgrade level.
10. How are the features to integrate third party tools with the CMS?
On WordPress you would use “plugins” to add functionality that is not included by default. This is an option on our WordPress.com Business Plan and would essentially open up your site to add any functionality you need. Plugins are a lot like apps for your smartphone, where there can often be many free options to choose from.
11. What is the weekly bounce rate for the package including the SEO.
SEO is great on WordPress.com without your having to do anything special other than post to your blog regularly.
The longer your site exists, the more you post to your blog, and the more people who visit it, the higher it should climb in Google’s rankings.
