Clicking on tag shows only part of my post?

Just started my blog and I am probably being really stupid but I have a tag cloud but when I click on a certain tag all my posts come up which contain that word, however only a few lines of each – not the whole post I.E. it stops where my ‘more’ link usually is. But there is no option shown to click more….so infact people who search can’t find the whole post….any ideas??? Also while on the topic of tags, when something is tagged it shows at the bottom of the post, but when you click on a word, say chicken, it just links you to other peoples blogs who have used the word chicken, it does not take you to my other chicken posts for example.

That’s normal behavior for the theme you are using. In the majority of themes, posts in category or monthly archive pages show up just as they do in the main posts page. But in some themes only the beginnings of posts are shown, and in a few themes you only get titles or thumbnails. BTW all your readers have to do is click on more time to be able to read the whole post.

As for your second remark, yes, categories and tags in your sidebar link to your posts, categories and tags under a post link to the global wp pages. That’s how wp.com blogs work, and it’s good for your traffic.
