    Why does ‘Contact Support’ on the close account page link to the public forums? That seems stupid to me…

    Hi there,

    When you cancel your upgrades (as you seem to have done) it removes your access to priority support that is included in your plan. Free WordPress.com users without an upgrade get support here in our forums which is why you are directed here.

    However I can confirm you have closed your account. If you wish to reverse this decision please let us know.
