Closing a redundant site – no passwords
-
I am keen to close down a redundant site no activity and previous owner deceased. It’s a Community Council website I am Engagement Officer, Chaurman agrees. No payment is made

I’m sorry to hear about the passing of the previous site owner, Gavin, and I appreciate you reaching out about this.
Because you’re not the account holder, we wouldn’t be able to process changes to the site through the forums. For privacy and security, requests like this are handled privately by our team. The best next step would be to send an email to help@wordpress.com.
In that email, please include the site address (URL), the name or email address of the original account holder if you have it, a brief explanation of the situation, and the action you’d like taken with the site.
We’ll also need a copy of the deceased site owner’s death certificate. Along with that, we’d need either a legal document showing your authority to act on behalf of the deceased, or a signed and notarized statement that includes your full name, your current contact information, your email address, your relationship to the deceased site owner, and the specific action you’re requesting. Even if you don’t have any of the documentation above, we can still take action if you explain the whole situation in the email.
Since this is a Community Council site rather than a personal one, it’s worth mentioning that context in your email as well, including the Chairman’s agreement, so our team has the full picture when reviewing your request.
You can also find all of this outlined in our guide on deceased site owners here: https://wordpress.com/support/deceased-user/
Once our team receives your email, they’ll walk you through the rest of the process privately.
