Closing Account

I’m having trouble with my wordpress account and woocommerce account. They seem to be connected and I have no idea how to disconnect. Additionally, the site onechurchministries.com seems connected with this same account, but it is ultimately administrated through dreamhost and I use a different site login to access the website. I’d really like to delete the account associated with (email visible only to moderators and staff) and/or (email visible only to moderators and staff) for both wordpress and woocommerce so I can start fresh, but I’m worried it will delete content from the onechurchministries.com site. Can you help clarify this for me? Thank you!

  • Hi there,

I should clarify that I see you have added the Jetpack plugin to your site at onechurchministries.com, and that plugins is what adds our cloud-based services to your site such as notifications, site verification with search engines, and site stats.

The Jetpack plugin requires a WordPress.com account, which is why you have this account linked to your site, even though it is not directly hosted with us.

As well, the same parent company that owns WordPress.com also owns WooCommerce, so WooCommerce accounts are linked to the WordPress.com login system, which is why you see that connection as well.

I’d really like to delete the account … so I can start fresh, but I’m worried it will delete content from the onechurchministries.com site. Can you help clarify this for me? Thank you!

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “start fresh” can you clarify what you are trying to do? It will help us to understand what might be the best path forward, thanks!

Hi, thanks for that info. So it’s kind of complicated what I’m trying to do but hopefully this makes sense… I used my woocommerce account to work with a completely different website (catoutdoors.com) which I helped build a year or so ago. But I guess when I added jetpack to the onechurchministries site, it used the same woocommerce/wordpress account. I’d ultimately like to just transfer the current wordpress/woocommerce account to the person who owns the catoutdoors site and remove it completely from the onechurchminsitries site. Potentially I’d like to create a new wordpress/woocommerce account. OR, I could just delete the current wordpress/woocommerce account and have the catoutdoors admin create their own? I just don’t know what to do here.

I hope that makes sense! Thanks,

  • For the Jetpack connection, you can reconnect that to the desired account at any time by disconnecting Jetpack from WordPress.com at Jetpack > Dashboard > Site Connection > Manage Site Connection in your site’s Dashboard, then connect again when prompted to the desired account.

Some WooCommerce features are connected via Jetpack, and those will be transferred along with the reconnect.

Some WooCommerce features are tied to purchased extensions which are made through the attached WordPress.com account. To move those, please contact WooCommerce support via https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/ from the WordPress.com account with the purchased extensions.
