Combine .com and .co.uk

  I own both domains .com and .co.uk but would like them to both go to .co.uk. I’ve had a website developed but the addresses are currently separate so would like them joined.

  Hi @loulouculley, if your .co.uk site is hosted here, you’ll just need to map the extra domain (free with your plan) and keep .co.uk as primary.

  If the site is a free WordPress installation with another host, please ask your host for help. You’ll likely need to park the domain and add a 301 redirect. Your host will know what that is if you ask for help.

  As for merging the content of two sites, that can be a bit more tricky, but you can use import and export to copy content from one site to the other as you like.

  Ok that’s amazing. Thank you. How do I map the extra domain? At the moment it looks like I have 2 accounts even though originally I paid for them both as a package. Both sites are hosted by WordPress.

  What is your site’s address? The account you’re using to post here doesn’t own any sites, and has never bought anything from us. If you already bought a plan from us, it’s for a site that belongs to a different account.

  In that case, log into that account, and go to My Site ->Manage ->Domains. Click Add domain, select the option to use a domain you already own, and select the domain mapping option.

  Note that all our plans come with a free domain transfer, so you could transfer your .com domain to us if you prefer. The transfer will also renew the domain for another year, but going forward the domain’s renewal cost will be extra on top of the plan. .uk domains cannot be transferred to us at this time.

  Or you can leave both domains at your current provider, and map both of them to the WordPress.com site. You can map as many domains as you want at no extra cost, as long as you have a paid plan.

  Regardless whether you transfer one and map the other, or map both, once both domains are connected to the site, you can select one as primary, and then the other will automatically redirect to it.
