Comment replies from administration screen not threaded

I sometimes find it convenient to reply to comments directly from the administration screen, but despite the fact that there is a Reply link under each of the existing comments, if I click on it and enter a reply, it gets entered as a top-level comment rather than as a reply. When I mouse over the Reply link on each of the existing comments, the URL is the same (e.g., http://altmode.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=155#) which is different from what happens when I press Reply when viewing the blog (e.g., http://altmode.wordpress.com/2009/08/30/what-i-dont-like-about-rss/?replytocom=53#respond).
Is there a way to get the administration-screen comments to behave as I would like? I do have threaded comments turned on in my Settings.
