Comment settings, ask for user email

    In the comment settings, I can chose to make the commenter to give their email. Now on the one hand I want the commenter to be ‘real’, and so I think I should select this option. But on the other hand I understand if some one doesnt want their email address published. I cant see in any of the examples or help files it the commenters email address ends up being publicly displayed with the comment, or if they simply enter it in the form, then the form disappears. Can any body tell me which it is. thanks
