  How can I get a comments field for readers to leave a comment on my blog? Thanks.

  Comments on new posts can be enabled at Settings > Discussion. The most relevant box is “Allow people to post comments on new articles.”

  To enable comments on previously published posts and pages follow the instructions given at the support page Enable and Disable Comments, but note that it’s necessary that Comments be allowed in the Screen Options at the top of each editor. You can also enable or disable comments at All Posts (or Pages) > Quick Edit, or at All Posts (or Pages) > Bulk Actions > Edit.
