Hi, is it necessary to register and log in in order to post comments. I have quite a few people approach me to inform that are not able to post comments now as they are being requested to register/log in.

  • Hi there,

This depends on the site owner. On each site the owner can choose whether they allow comments from anyone, from anyone as long as they provide a valid email address, or only from someone that is logged into WordPress.com or one of the social media accounts supported via the comment form.

On your site at https://sunispalate.wordpress.com/ you currently have it set up so that commenters must provide a valid email address, but they should be able to comment on your site without needing to create a WordPress.com account.

That said, if someone types in an email address that’s already connected to a WordPress.com account, they will be prompted to log into that account. This is expected.

You can modify your site’s comment settings at My Site ->Manage ->Settings ->Discussion.
