This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments. The default setting for all WordPress.com blogs is comments open so if they are not open on your blog you need to change the setting. Changing it will only affect future posts and pages ie. it’s not retroactive. We can also overide the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page. Existing posts and pages will have to have their comments turned on manually. You can either do this on a post by post and page by page basis in the discussion module down below the text area in the post/page editor, or you can use the bulk edit feature to do multiple posts or pages.

Also note the differences between Pages and Posts. This is a static Page > http://learningstream.wordpress.com/about/ You have not yet published a Post. You have deleted the Hello World placeholder post but as soon as you do publish a Post the error message “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria ” (404 page not found) on your front page will disappear.
You can link your username to your blog very easily. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.
Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.
