Comments show email address

  On my blog in settings->discussions->comments I set ‘comment author must fill out name and e-mail’
  when I approve the comment the commentators email is displayed in the blog, not only in the wp-admin but also from a public computer. For the commentators privacy, how do disable their email from being displayed on a public computer?

  WordPressdotcom does not publicly display user email addresses when you approve a comment. If you are seeing that behavior anywhere on the public facing side of your site, please link directly to a comment where it displays.

  Having said that, when users sign up for a WordPressdotcom account, they might use their email address as their username. Is that what you are referring to? If so, unfortunately it doesn’t seem like there is a way to prevent this, as ill-advised as it might be.

  What you can do in this situation is turn off the Gravatar hover card that might display. To change this setting you’ll need to go to the Discussion settings in your site’s WP Admin dashboard. For your above site that would be at https://englefieldgreenactiongroup.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php and scroll down a bit until you see Avatars>Gravatar Hovercards and uncheck the box next to View people's profiles when you mouse over their Gravatars Scroll down to the bottom of that page and click the “Save Changes” button. You might need to refresh the page to check that the Hover Cards no longer appear.

  Yes they are both the same user – not sure how I managed to achieve that.
  Thanks, your suggestion to uncheck the gravitar has resolved the problem with the email details no longer being displayed.
