Concerning my Domain

  I cancelled my domain, but how do I fully deactivate it? I’d like to use that domain name on Squarespace but it says the domain is taken. Thanks for your help!

  Hey there,

  If you’re wanting to use your domain at a different host, you should never cancel it at your current host – once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it. Also, it usually takes a few weeks for your domain registration to clear and become available once you cancel it. There isn’t an exact time, however, so you’ll be checking consistently to see when it becomes available.

  If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site

  It is canceled, but I can uncancel/restore it within a certain period of time so that it will be easier for you to move it, assuming you still want to use the domain at another host.
