Confused while trying to renew my site

    I just paid to renew my site and arrived at step 3 of the Domains wizard. I don’t understand these things:

    1. Would you like to transfer these MX records for surrey-farms.com?
    What’s an MX record? What does this mean?

    2. Point surrey-farms.com’s nameservers to your site.
    I thought surrey-farms.com was already aliased to my WordPress URL. So what is this?

    Also, I have been asked to pay $30 for custom design options. If I don’t need to change any part of the design in the future, will my existing design customizations be revoked if I don’t pay?

    If you need any email addresses on your domain surrey-farms.com then you’ll need to add the MX (mail) records provided by your email host to the Custom DNS area:

    https://surreyfarms.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains&action=dnsedit&domain=surrey-farms.com

    It looks like you’ve already added some MX records from GoDaddy.

    I thought surrey-farms.com was already aliased to my WordPress URL. So what is this?

    Your domain surrey-farms.com is currently pointing to GoDaddy. In order to finish mapping it to your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to log into your domain registration control panel and update the name servers to:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

    Please be sure to first read our guide to mapping an existing domain – especially the heads-up about any email accounts you may have on the domain.

    Also, I have been asked to pay $30 for custom design options. If I don’t need to change any part of the design in the future, will my existing design customizations be revoked if I don’t pay?

    If you use any features of the Custom Design upgrade such as custom fonts or CSS customizations, they will remain active as long as your Custom Design upgrade is also active. If you choose not to renew the upgrade then your customizations will no longer be in effect.
