Connect my domain, move site from LiveEdit, connect blog
-
I have an old personal blog on WP already. I need to move my site from LiveEdit, connect my domain purchased from GoDaddy and rename my blog or add a new one for my site. I have spent hours going through the info…I am pretty low tech AND AM JUST PLAIN LOST.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
First, to move any content here you need to get a .xml export file from your current provider. We don’t have an importer for LiveEdit, but if you can export such a file from their end, you should be able to import it here.
connect my domain purchased from GoDaddy
For that you’ll need to first buy a plan under My Site ->Plans, and that will allow you to add the domain mapping upgrade to your site.
Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping)
rename my blog
Do you mean change the title? You can do that by going to My Site ->Settings.
add a new one for my site
To create a new site in your account, go to this link:
https://wordpress.com/start/site/
If you’d prefer to make a new site, please do that first before adding a plan and domain mapping.

Excellent info and concise! Thank you! Ok I really just want to rename my old blog and attach (?) it to my new site.
So:
rename the blog first
Buy the plan
start a site in WP
get the .xml file from LiveEdit -
Thank you! Yes my domain is connected to LiveEdit now so:
rename the blog first
start a site in WP
get the .xml file from LiveEdit
buy the plan? -
And after buying the plan, connect your domain, yes. That sounds good to me.
If you run into any trouble importing your content from LiveEdit, let me know. As I said, we don’t have an importer for them, and their export file might not be compatible with our importers, but we can definitely take a look at what’s possible.
