Connecting a WordPress domain to a squarespace site

  I have built a site at Squarespace and am trying to connect my wordpress domain to my squarespace site. I have already attempted to follow the instructions here: https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/206542027-Connecting-a-WordPress-domain-to-your-Squarespace-site. In addition, I have spoken to a customer service agent at Squarespace. We were unable to solve the problem, however, as the WordPress site often says ‘invalid name’ under ‘host’ when I am attempting to add a new DNS record.

  How can I correctly add my CNAMEs and A records if WordPress won’t allow me to? I need everything set to default name servers.
