Connecting Domains…

How do I connect WordPress as a subdomain? Do I always need to pay the fee to upgrade too?
I’ve got as far as getting to my CNAME settings with Startlogic, but after that I don’t know exactly what to input for the ‘host’ and ‘points to’ fields. I also don’t follow what to do on the word press site after I’ve done that. Help? I’m very new trying to learn as a go..

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

WordPress.com plans come with a free domain credit that you can use to map a subdomain you already own.

You can map additional subdomains to your site with only $13.00 per subdomain, per blog, per year.

A subdomain is a second website that’s part of a larger domain, and can have its own content.

You can set up a subdomain for a domain registered through another registrar or a domain registered through WordPress.com.

Here is the link for Mapping a Subdomain

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks!!

  • Hi there,

I don’t know exactly what to input for the ‘host’ and ‘points to’ fields.

In the ‘host’ field you put the subdomain you want to use. So if you want your site to be at blog.myawesomesite.com, you’ll type in blog.

In the Points To field you put the address of your WordPress.com site, without https://, so enchantedchocolates.wordpress.com

On our end you’ll need to first buy a plan at My Site ->Plans, and then you can add a domain mapping upgrade via My Site ->Domains. You’ll add the mapping for the full domain including subdomain you want to use, e.g. blog.myawesomesite.com
