Connecting Jetpack / WordPress / my WordPress Account
-
I am not sure exactly what went wrong where, but for some reason I have a WordPress account that is not connected to my WordPress website. I tried adding Jetpack and now it doesn’t think my website is affiliated with my account. I really don’t know how to fix this (simply preferably).

vndecor.ca – but the site doesn’t have a problem. I can’t add it to my WordPress account because they aren’t affiliated for some reason. I thought I had sorted it out by joining my WP account to my WP site, but it still doesn’t actually recognize it… (and I realize how confused that sounds).
I don’t have a WP log in to the WP.com site, only to my admin page with my actual WP website. I created a WP account at some point (obviously not properly). Jetpack keeps sending me in a circle when I try and update my information….

When Jetpack asks you for your WordPress.com account to connect it to, make sure you give it the WordPress.com username and password you’re logged in here under right now (not the username and password you log into the site with, it’s a separate thing).

That makes sense. But when I try and log into WP with my website credentials I am told that user doesn’t exist. My WP installation was done through my website host account. I didn’t create the account directly. So now I am stuck, it appears, unless there is another step I can take.

WordPress.com and your self-hosted WordPress.org site are two entirely separate things, they do not share login details.
So, when you’re connecting Jetpack to WordPress.com, and Jetpack asks for your WordPress.com username and password, give it
vintagenouveaudecorfor the username and the same password you use to log in here as that. -
Yes, that is what I did.
What I am doing: I try and configure my notification settings in the Jetpack plugin on my website. It sends me to WordPress, I log in. It says I do not have any websites… So I can’t actually get the notifications.

And, I understand they are two different ‘IDs’, but I did just ‘join’ my currently logged-in account and my WP website because I can now log in to my website with these credentials…. I believe (seriously, I am going around in circles logging into WP).

Oh, I did just notice something. The .org and the .com… maybe this is where I am going wrong. Hmm… I will look at that a bit closer. I may have three accounts (!?!)

I do have another account, but that one gives me the same message: you don’t have any WordPress sites yet, want to create one.

Please try disconnecting Jetpack from WordPress.com at Jetpack > Dashboard > Site Connection > Manage Site Connection in your site’s Dashboard, then connect again when prompted to the desired WordPress.com account.
