Consolidation
-
I have two emails (email 1 and email 2) and two blogs (blog 1 and blog 2.) I have a website with email 2, but am going to stop using email 2 and don’t want anything attached to it anymore (even log in info.) So I went to delete blog 2 so I could restart it with email 1, but I am having a lot of difficulty with this. Please help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @lizzairvine, instead of deleting this other blog, what about transferring it to the account you want to keep?
Here’s how:

Thanks for your help. That’s a great idea. Unfortunately, I already deleted it because I didn’t realize it would be challenging. It said that the domain would expire on Oct 14. So maybe I should just wait until then, and then start it over (it didn’t have any content yet so I didn’t lose that, I just wanted the url so I had paid to have the url without the .wordpress. part through Oct.) Will the url/domain be available at that point?
Also, I would love to change my username that is attached to email 1 to the username that I use with email 2 (@lizzairvine) even after I get rid of everything with email 2. I tried and it said that @lizzairvine is already being used – which it is – by me. Is there a way to transfer usernames?

Hmm, when you delete, you should see a warning telling you you won’t be able to get the URL back again. If you let a domain expire, it can be difficult to get it back. Can you send a link so we can check to see what’s happened and what your options are now?
Is there a way to transfer usernames?
Yes, that you can do fairly easily. You’ll need an extra email address. In fact, you might try using an email alias instead. If you have a gmail address, this will work:

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
Yes, I did see that warning. However, I don’t want that url back with that username. I didn’t suppose that it would strike the url from ever being used. What I want to do is use that url with a different username, like I’m a totally different person trying to open up that website. My email 1 has not been attached to it, so I didn’t suppose that would be a problem. Do you think it will be?
What is the extra email address for? I am trying to consolidate the email addresses I have (which is why I am getting rid of everything attached to email 2).

Do you think it will be?
So the assumption was it wouldn’t ever be available for you again but anyone else could go ahead and use it? Actually when you deactivate a URL, we prevent anyone from using it for few years, possibly indefinitely.
Please send the address to the site so I can take a look at your options. Thanks!

Okay, cool. That’s a custom domain, and it’s freshly cancelled. We’ll contact the registrar to see if we can get it back for you. Talk to you soon.

Supernovia, I just got an email from Jeff saying it was all fixed. You are my hero! Thank you for your help! Now I am going to try your suggestion to switch it over to my other wordpress account with the link you gave me:

Perfect! Thanks @lizzairvine . I’d recommend setting up an email alias, too, just in case.If you need help with that or with the transfer to the other account, let me know. Cheers!
