Constant Pop-Up

I was asked to start a new thread about this, despite me adding my problem on another thread with the exact same problem. Other Thread. I have had the constant “Welcome to WordPress” pop up every time I edit a post, or start a new post (on both of my blogs). If I edit a post just minutes after a previous edit, it pops up again. I have seen it hundreds of times now, and I am fed up of it. I am using Google Chrome (up to date) and I am on a lap top. I always clear browser every day. Here is the screenshot of the pop up…Screenshot – Pop up

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there @incogtala

I was asked to start a new thread about this, despite me adding my problem on another thread with the exact same problem.

Thanks for opening this new thread. We prefer separate threads not because we think you don’t have the same issue but so that the person that created the original thread (that you commented on) does not get notifications of new messages as we help troubleshoot with you. For the same reason, we would ask someone jumping in on this thread to do the same so that you don’t find you have an inbox full of notifications that may not relate to your issue.

As mentioned in the other thread, this is an issue that some other site owners have reported, and our devs are currently investigating. Still, we don’t have a timeline on when it will be fixed until that investigation is complete.

We’d like to add the details of your setup to this report in the hopes it will help (and so we can also follow up when it’s fixed), so with this in mind, can you visit this link and copy the sharing URL you see there? https://www.whatsmybrowser.org

This will allow us to see the browser and operating system you are using so we can include that info for our devs. Also, when you are in the editor, please click the three dots top-right and change a preference. You can try enabling the Top Toolbar setting or disabling the pre-publish checklist.

After that, please quit your browser, relaunch it, and visit the editor. Are the changes you made to the editor preferences still saved, or have they switched back to the defaults?

    Thanks for the additional info!

This is the sharing URL from that link Browser Info I did what you asked, and enabled the top toolbar, and when I returned it has reverted back to the default.

That link doesn’t seem to work. I copied the link that says to share. Here it is again but it still might not work! Browser Link

It’s not working. Shall I just copy/paste the info (without the IP address included) here?

  • Great, I was able to extract the link, which allows me to see your browser and OS here: https://www.whatsmybrowser.org/b/HKCS0

Are you able to give this a try and see what happens? Other site owners with the same popup issue have also reported issues with these preferences as well, so it will help to know if you have it too, thanks!

I already wrote my results about that above!

  • Apologies, I missed that. Thanks for calling attention to it.

I have reported these details to our developers. I do not have a timeline on when it will be fixed but we are happy to update you as soon as we know more.

    Thanks for your patience!
