Contact wordpress for help upgrading

    Hi,
    How do I contact WordPress as opposed to posting on forums for advice in upgrading my current website [from another host] to a fully set up wordpress website?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

    My site is currently through wix, and I find it extremely easy to change things, etc.
    I have recently read the following article –

    and the main take away from said article is that wix is better for those who aren’t uo to speed with coding, and those that are, wordpress is much better.

    I am not very knowledgable with coding, so wix seems a better fit for me.

    I have a Blog on wordpress [my original web page actually] and I was thinking of merging my wix website and having them all under the one roof, so to speak.

    Wix and WordPress.com are two entirely separate site building services, so it won’t be possible to essentially combine them both under the same domain.

    The articles appears to be referring to the self-hosted version of WordPress (WordPress.org), which does require some management responsibilities and may need the occasional code tweaking. In comparison, we strive to make everything easy here at WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    I see you do have a site with us, so you’ve used us not too long ago, but if you need a refresher, https://learn.wordpress.com/ is pretty straight-forward. :)

    Yes, I understand they are different – I was thinking of just opening a new website through wordpress and combining my blog I already have into my new site.
    It would have to be an online store, but I don’t necessarily have to accept payments directly thrugh the website at first [maybe down the track].
    Is this conversation viewable to the public, as I would like to give you the name of my websites to look over and also my website name to see how easy it would be to change things all into one?

    This is a public forum, yes.

    I see the existing site is on Wix. We do offer a Wix importer that will import all your posts from Wix into a WordPress.com site. It’s as simple as typing in your Wix site’s address into the importer:

    And if you have a domain registered with Wix, you can transfer that to us as well:

    Accepting payments is actually the easiest part – from our Premium Plan upwards you can use the Simple Payments button that lets you list single products and accept payment for them via a PayPal button. Combine that with a contact form for the actual orders, and you’re set.

    If you don’t have a lot of products, and don’t mind a bit more manual processing of stuff, that will do the trick:

    But if you have a lot of products, and a lot of orders, a fully-integrated store with a shopping cart, checkout, and integrated payment gateways would ultimately be better. You can do this with our Business Plan, where you can install any ecommerce plugin you want, or our eCommerce plan which comes with WooCommerce and several payment gateway plugins pre-installed.

    We provide full support for WooCommerce on both the Business and eCommerce plans, but not for plugins created by other companies – you can use other plugins, but we’ll send you to the people who make those should you need help with them.

    The Premium Plan is currently $96 a year, Business $300, and eCommerce $540 (excludes any premium plugins you might want to buy elsewhere). The per-year cost for every plan is also cheaper if you buy it for two years at a time.

    If you buy a plan you’ll be able to transfer your existing domain to us for free, and the domain transfer also includes one year’s renewal on the domain. From the second year onwards the domain renews at the regular retail price, which depends on the exact TLD used for the domain.

    You can also choose to leave your domain at Wix and just connect it here. Connecting/mapping your domain in this way is free with your plan, but then you’ll still have to pay Wix for the domain’s annual renewal.
