Content disappeared from website

    Hello,
    I have this private website which I haven’t accessed in a while but had some important memories of mine. I wanted to access it today only to discover that all my posts were gone, except for one. I’m really sad to see I lost everything I had there. Those were some cherished memories of mine but I never thought of keeping them somewhere else, so now they are gone forever. Is there any way you could help me recover that information. It’s really important for me. Thank you!

    https://ralucavernica.wordpress.com hasn’t had any activity for 4 years, and no deletions since 8 years ago.

    I also see https://ralucavernica444882904.wordpress.com under your account, that had activity 1 month ago, but no deletions.

    Maybe you were referring to a different site?

    I understand that you didn’t find any deletions in the history of the website, but just to prove that it is an actual issue, you can see here a screenshot of how it looks like. As you can see, the only existent post doesn’t even show the image attached.

    Hi there,

    After a closer look, I can see the image on that post is not one that was uploaded into your media library, but instead is an image you added “via URL” which is the same as saying it’s a hot-linked image.

    You can see in my video here, the URL of the image is not ralucavernica.wordpress.com but it seems to come from another site imgix.8tracks.com

    To clarify, when you “hot-link” an image like this, if the owner of imgix.8tracks.com takes down their site it is also removed from your site. I can confirm that http://imgix.8tracks.com/ is a site that no longer appears to be online, so any images that used to be on that site have also been removed.

    You are welcome to upload an image to your site to use in the place of the missing image, but there is no way to recover the image since imgix.8tracks.com is not a site that is under our control.

    Thanks you. This is a good explanation for why this particular image is not showing. But my problem is that all the posts I had on this website (containing text, images and videos) are now gone. The screenshot I sent you contains the entire content that is left on it, but I had more. It is true that I haven’t accessed it in the last 4 years, but when I last saw it, everything was there.

    Hi there,

    As staff-blorbo said earlier, our logs show no activity for 4 years and no deletions of posts since 8 years ago.

    Are you sure this is the correct site? Maybe you had another site under a different account or even hosted elsewhere.

    Yes, i’m totally sure this is the website.
    I understand that it’s nothing you can do about it as you can’t detect the problem. However, thank you very much for trying to help.

    I’d still suggest checking if there was another site, maybe using a different email address or another platform. Here, as my colleagues have already confirmed, there have been no deletions on ralucavernica.wordpress.com for 8 years. And we also do not remove any content on our users’ sites, so it’s not possible for the content to vanish.
