Convering wordpress.com to wordpress.org
-
Hi! I was supposed to create a website through wordpress.org for my client hovdenevent, but they unfortunately went through wordpress.com instead, creating a blog. Thinking we could use the domain they bought there I just sent them through the wordpress.org setup (via bluehost) and everything seemed to have gone smoothly untill we logged into their account. It still only shows the wordpress.com dashboard. I gave the website a couple of days and it still only logs into the wordpress.com dashboard. What would you suggest doing in order to fix the problem?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
It looks like your domain has not been updated to point to another host. In order for hovdenevent.com to point to your self-hosted site, you’ll need to update your DNS settings. Here’s a guide on making these changes in our system:
You’ll need to contact the host about the correct DNS settings for your site.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you for redirecting me to the right place!
I found the problem was with confirming the hosting. After doing that, BlueHost told me we’d have to wait 60 days for it to redirect properly because we bought the domain so recently from Wild West Domains, Inc. I’m assuming that company is associated with WordPress? Obviously we cannot wait that long before starting up work on the website! Is there a way we could speed up the process, other than cancelling the domain?
Because we’ve spent a couple of days getting it all to work, we can’t get a refund anymore. It would be great if we could use what we’ve already bought.
Thanks for the help and the quick reply earlier!

Hi there!
Its true that you can’t transfer the domain for 60 days after purchasing it. However, you can still update the DNS records. You should be able to set up your domain to work with your site at Bluehost by changing your name servers to the following:
ns1.bluehost.com
ns2.bluehost.comHere’s a guide on changing your name servers:
You may still need additional information from Bluehost, or to do an additional step in your Bluehost account in order to connect that domain with your site, so check in with Bluehost’s support about that.
Let me know if I can help further!

Thanks again, this time it looks like the website works the way it’s supposed to, so the hosting and domain-settings are correct now. Strangely, I only get a “invalid username” message when trying to log in to the /wp-admin.
I’m really at a loss now, can you help with this problem as well? -
Since your domain is pointed at your self hosted site now, you’ll need to use the login information for that site instead of your WordPress.com log in.
I can’t really help further than that since I don’t have access to your self hosted site, but here’s some information from WordPress.org about reseting your password:

If you need further help with your site, you should check out the WordPress.org support documentation and forums:
