Copy site being used as a catalog to new site?

  Hello all,
  I’d like to copy our existing WordPress site (being used as a catalog) to a new WordPress site that I would update for this year. Is that possible? Can’t seem to find any information on doing that.

  See the Export and Import support pages for instructions on how to export posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags from one website to an XML file, which can then be imported to another website.

  The Export support page includes the caveat

  Note: This will ONLY export your posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags; uploads and images may need to be manually transferred to the new blog.

  When I last used the Export and Import tools a few years ago, embedded images were exported and imported. I don’t remember if galleries and slideshows survived intact. Results could be different now.
