Create a post for an earlier date instead of current date automatically assigned

I have a number of photos from 2012 that didn’t get posted to the blog. I would like to post them now. Is there any way that I can have them dated with the correct month in 2012 in the archives instead of having the current month and year automatically assigned by WP? Also, I can’t find anything about the photo click-through link. What is it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Uploads are named/filed with the year and month of their upload date. There is no way to change this.

Also, I can’t find anything about the photo click-through link. What is it?

Where did you see or hear about this?

Taking a quick look at your website, I hope you will you allow me to make an unasked for suggestion? :)

Photo names: 55a14-p35-scaled1000, d42e4-p36-scaled1000. Do those names mean a lot to you? How about your site visitors? When you resize your images in a folder, why not rename them with something meaningful, like the title of your post, before you upload them? That way, you’ll also know what images are being looked at most because the photo names also become the names of the attachment page/photo carousel addresses.

    Jennifer,

Thanks for your response. I’m very disappointed that I can’t change the upload date. I have many pictures from 2012 and 2013 that now will be lumped into whatever month I upload them. I think this is a serious flaw.

I see the photo click-through link verbiage when I am on the page to create a new post.

Re: the numbered pictures that you referred to? Where do you see those. They may have been numbered as part of the import from Posterous.

    Thanks for the response.

Actually, you can change the date of a post easily, by editing it and changing the date on the right-hand side.

Brilliant, Raincoaster! I didn’t even see that as an option. Thanks for alleviating hours of frustration.

@thebeesinflorida – I apologize if I misunderstood your question which to me appeared to be about trying to change the file name assigned by WP to the upload date of media, not of posts, nor was I aware that you’d imported your site from posterous.

    Best wishes.

To be clear, what Jennifer said stands. But few people look at the file URL or file name; it has an effect on SEO, for sure, but otherwise the post date might be what most people would see.
