Create a test site

  The company I work for needs an updated and fresh website. However, until it’s done, we can’t transfer the domain; we need our current site up and running. How do I create a ‘test’ site without transferring the domain? It has to have approval before the domain can be transferred. Thanks.

  You can get started at https://wordpress.com/start and you do not need to add your custom domain until you’re ready.

  For that, we have two options:

  Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/
