Create Gallery option

  Hello,

  I don’t seem to have the create gallery option when I add media. Is this because I am using a free theme or the particular theme I am using (Adventure Journal)?

  Hi Chris,

  Everyone should be able to create galleries, no matter what theme they’re using. After you click on “Add Media,” a box will pop up with a link in the top left that says “Create Gallery.” From there you can choose images or upload new ones to go in your gallery.

  If you don’t see that link, can you make a screenshot of what you see? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy. That will help me understand what’s going wrong there.

  I’ve added the only 2 screens I can manage to get in the media tab to my library.

  Found it!!

  I’ve been trying for ages and just took a fresh look and worked out I needed to be adding media at the posting stage not into the library. At least I think that’s what I was doing wrong.

  Hi Chris,

  Ah yes! Galleries are created in the moment when you’re adding them to a post or page — that way you can add any combination of photos from your media library into a particular gallery. So it’s when you click on “Add Media” while writing that post that you’ll see the option to create the gallery.

  You can read more about Galleries and Slideshows to see all the different ways you can set those up, too.
