Create Website Before Mapping Domain

    Hello,

    I am creating a new website for my organization. The current website is hosted elsewhere (Siteground), but we want to move everything to a WordPress.com Business account. I want access to the Business version while I am building the website, but I don’t want to map my existing domain until the website is ready. How do I do this?

    The only way I have thought of is using a dummy domain when I buy my Business plan, build on that domain, and then map the right domain when the website is ready. Is there a simpler way to do this? Please note I am a WordPress beginner.

    Hi,

    So, if you start on this page: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

    – Click “Stat with Business”
    – In the domain box, start typing your domain name
    – The first option on the list should be a ________.wordpress.com domain that is marked “free”
    – Choose that and continue through the checkout process

    Then, down the road, when you have your site set up the way you like, you can map your existing domain using these instructions:

    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
