creating a free blog

I’m trying to sign up for a second blog site, but every time I try to create a domain, it pulls up a bunch of options with payment plans. They have one free option, but it is aways an absurd option. Why is this so confusing? I get that there are a billion blogs out there, but I didn’t have this much trouble with WordPress 4 years ago?

They do it to make you pay! Either go for the crazy one or pay unfortunately

@realliferealtime Hi there, there’s also a free option available on WPcom that you can use for free forever, either with a .wordpress.com or .blog subdomain (see here for all the choices https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2018/11/28/announcing-free-dotblog-subdomains/ ).

On what screen in the new site signup process are you getting stuck?

If you don’t want one of the .blog subdomain options, try typing out the full wordpress.com subdomain address you want in your browser bar and if the address hasn’t been already registered, you can start from that screen. Alternatively, when you get to the point in the process where you enter the domain name, type out the full wordpress.com address you want, if someone else hasn’t already registered it.

Hope that helps and let us know how that goes.
