Creating a new site

Hi!
My name is Michele and I work for a parks and rec department in Louisiana. We currently use wordpress through a third party host, and we wanted to change it to in house. I was wondering if there was a way I could create a new site and be the administrator of that site so we no longer have to contact another company in order to make changes. Is there a way I can play around with apps and widgets and pay for them if they suit our needs?Any help would be great!

If you want to host the site with us, you can create a free site in your account by going to https://wordpress.com/start/site/ – I see you actually have a site already at https://pardsla.wordpress.com/, but you can add as many sites to your account as you want.
Free sites never expire, so you can experiment with it however you want.
We don’t offer free trials of our paid features, but if you upgrade to a paid plan and decide you’re not happy with it, we offer a full refund for 30 days after purchase (if you register a custom domain as part of the plan the domain is only refundable for four days).
If you’d prefer to use the open source version of WordPress, which I’m guessing is what your current site is built with, you would need to sign up for a hosting account at a provider like Bluehost first, before you can install and use that software.
