Creating a new website
-
Hey,
Our company just started a rebranding phase where we want to build a completely new website. Our current hosting company has been with us for 20 years and the website is created by them as well. Now we want to open a new website but with the same website-address and domain.
Is there a possibility to build and design a new website first using WordPress and once its ready we just delete the existing one and publish the new one through a domain service?
As you can understand there is not the possibility of deleting the existing one and then spend a couple of weeks building a new one.
Is the only possibility to start building it in a completely different name and once ready just delete the old one and upload the new that has been created in WordPress?
This is the first time using WordPress as well so I appreciate your help
Kind regards,
MickeI don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi there,
Is there a possibility to build and design a new website first using WordPress and once its ready we just delete the existing one and publish the new one through a domain service?
Absolutely – what you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a
.wordpress.comor a.home.blogsubdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. The site starts off private until you are ready to launch it.Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:

or connect the domain to the site from where the domain is currently hosted:

Hope this helps!
