creating a post

Whenever I try to add a post to my website (it even tells me when I’m done ‘You just published a post on Sound Battalion. Yay!’), it ends up as a page on my website instead. I’ve tried over and over again to just ‘post’ an article, but can’t seem to get it to stick. The home page still says I have none.. any advice?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Is it possible that you’ve been inadvertently clicking on the “Add” tab for Pages rather than the “Add” tab for Blog Posts in the new (Beep Beep Boop) editor? The two tabs are very close to each other. -
Thanks for responding!
I kept thinking I was clicking the wrong button… but then I’d even go to my home page where the: “Nothing Found. Ready to publish your first post? Get started here” message is, and launch the post creator from the link provided. The URL I’m taken to specifically says I’m creating a post (https://wordpress.com/post/123etc…)
But in the end, same result and it ends up as a page when I’m done. :( It’s now a page tab on my website and when I go to edit it, it takes me to the page editor (https://wordpress.com/page/123etc…)

I created a screenshot walkthrough of the exact steps I’m taking but I’m not sure how to share pictures… haha. Let me know if there’s a way I can post it and I’ll be happy to show I’m not crazy (’cause I know this sounds pretty crazy). :)

I’ve tagged the topic for staff attention.
You can share an image in the forum by uploading it to your media library and providing a link to the image URL, or by using a tool such as Snaggy and similar alternatives to paste a screen shot directly online, and providing the URL here.

Oh awesome! Thanks. :) So on to sharing my steps below:

That series of images, with the color outlines the helpful descriptions added, appears to be a very good presentation of evidence supporting your claim. Please wait for staff to respond.
…am I missing a step somewhere?
Not that I’ve detected. A post should never “turn into” a static page.* I’ve seen several other such claims in the support forums, but none to my knowledge with the trail of supporting evidence so well presented.

Sure! The latest one was:

Same one I used for the screenshots above.

Hm, that’s definitely a page, yes.
I’m not able to reproduce the problem myself.
Do you have the same issue with the classic editor at Posts -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard?
-
I haven’t had a chance to try the classic editor–I haven’t seen an option for it thus far and had trouble finding information online about it. How might I go about using the classic one?
-
The link is a bit hidden these days, we’d rather have you use the new editor. :)
Just add /wp-admin/ to the end of your blog’s URL to access the classic Dashboard, and the classic editor is at Posts -> Add New.
-
I tried it and it worked! Maybe I’ll use the classic editor for a while… As long as it isn’t going to be deleted any time soon? Haha. :)
Really appreciate the help!
-
Perfect, at least that works! :)
With regards to the new editor, were you perhaps editing or writing a Page in another tab while you published the Post?
-
When it first happened I only had one window open with the Post creator…later yesterday I did have other tabs open where I was deleting Pages.
Ok, I was sure I tried this yesterday but–I cleared my search history and cache from everything, tried again.. looks like the new editor is working! Man I can’t believe it took me that long to figure out. Thank you so much, and sorry for the trouble. Everyone here is so helpful. :)
-
Ok, I’m willing to bet it got confused since you were working with pages in a different tab. Sorry about that!
