Hi there, I don’t see any WordPress.com websites under this account. What is the address of the site you need help with so we can point you in the right direction for support.
Keep in mind that this support forum assists users with free websites hosted on the WPcom platform. WPcom (where we are ) and WP are separate entities with different documentation and support forums. More information about the differences can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

Hello again, “WordPress” comes in 2 flavors: WPcom (where we are ) and WP are separate entities with different documentation and support forums. More information about the differences can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.com is a web hosting provider and you can follow this guide https://wordpress.com/start/ to set up a free website. Once you’ve done that, you can then map your custom domain to your free site, but you’ll want to upgrade to at least the Personal plan. More on that here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
https://wordpress.com/pricing/You’ll find a guide to getting started at https://wordpress.com/learn
Post back here if you have further questions about any of that.

Ok so I have the existing domain so I click on yes I already have a domain.
Then it gives me an option. Transfer your domain away from your current registrar which I’m guessing is with namecheap.com
The other option says map your domain without moving your current registrar. I have no idea what it means about mapping? Map your domain?

Hi!
Functionally, it really makes no difference. Both work equally well and will send users to your site when they enter your domain into their browser.
What it really comes down to is if you have opinions on the ease of keeping your site billing in one place (one bill from WordPress.com vs a bill from WordPress.com and a bill from your domain registrar). Or if you have a particular reason to want to use an external registrar (perhaps you have many domains and want to keep them all registered in the same place).
A bit more information can also be found here:

Take a look and let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.
