Creating a Website Before Purchasing a Domain

  Is it possible to create a website template before purchasing a domain? I would like to create the website first and see how it looks before committing to purchasing a domain but word press is not letting me do this.

  You do not have to purchase a domain before creating a site.

  However, you will have to choose a _______.wordpress.com URL (i.e. yourgroovysite.wordpreess.com) of some sort in order to create a site. It doesn’t have to be your real URL, you could just make up a fake test site URL and delewte it later (testytest2093896492.wordpress.com for example). Also, you can always change it to a yourgroovysite.com custom URL later. But you are correct that the system will not allow you to build a site with absolutely no URL of all.
