Creating two URL’s for the same WordPress site with different security options
-
Hi,
We have a live WordPress website are are currently use IP address white listing as our security to prevent access to the site from outside our corporate environment.
We would like to add a different route into the same website but using username/password authentication from non-whitelisted IP address via Okta (ID provider).
Is it possible to create a second URL that this new user authentication method is used for whilst maintaining the same single website behind the scenes? Eg:
User A, from trusted IP address, goes to http://www.website-A.com and gets straight in.
User B, from non-trusted IP address, goes to http://www.website-B.com and uses
username/password authentication. In both scenarios the user hits the same website once passed the relevant security measure. Almost like having two front doors to the same site.
Hope that makes sense.
Kind Regards

Hi there,
Looks like you’re in the wrong forum. It appears that you’re using the open-source WordPress.org software and you need to seek help at these forums:

These forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org you can read this document:

Hi fstat,
Thanks for the reply. It is actually a hosted site I am talking about, ending – buckinghamshire.gov.uk, perhaps misleading from my e-mail address so I think I am on the correct forum.
Kind Regards

Hi Mike –
ending–buckinghamshire.gov.uk is not a working domain. Are you sure the hyphen was included?

Hi lizkarkoski,
No there shouldn’t be hyphen in the domain name, any ideas on my original question?
Thanks

http://endingbuckinghamshire.gov.uk/ doesn’t exist either.
I concur with my colleague earlier, you might be asking in the wrong place.
There are absolutely no domains or sites on your account here.
What is the current URL of the current site?
