Cubic theme – use pages rather than posts
-
cubic theme, I would like the cubes on the home page to be pages rather than posts – is this possible and if so how?
Thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – that isn’t possible to do in Cubic; only posts display in the square grid.
Would a theme that displayed portfolio projects in a grid work for you? If so then you’d have a few other choices, like Espied or Sketch.

Thank you for that, I have settled on Sketch which I think suits my needs. I’m struggling with the theme though, I cant figure out how to set the grid up – ideally, each block in the grid will represent a page on the site
Can you give me a pointer as to how I get that started
Many thanks
Angus

Hi Angus, the grid in Sketch represents portfolio projects, not pages.
The first step is to activate portfolios on your site under Settings → Writing → Your Custom Content Types.
Check the box next to “Portfolio Projects” to enable them.
https://photographytrainingscotland.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-writing.php
Once you do that you’ll see a new menu item called Portfolios in WP admin and you’ll be able to start adding portfolio projects.
You can learn more about how to set up portfolios here:
Once you have some portfolio projects published, you can set them up to appear on your homepage in Sketch. There’s a guide to setting that up here:

If you get stuck along the way, let me know!

Thanks for that help, however, I cant find Portfolio projects under the writing section
Just for clarity, this is for a self hosted site
Does that make a difference?

Hi Angus, yes, it makes a big difference. :) These forums are for folks hosted here on WordPress.com.
If you’re running a self-hosted site, you’ll need to activate the Jetpack plugin’s Custom Content Types module to get access to portfolios.
If you need further help with your self-hosted site running Sketch, please visit the Sketch forum over at WordPress.org:
http://wordpress.org/support/theme/sketch
You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:
https://wordpress.org/support/register.php
Be sure to provide a link to your site when you post so people can help you more easily. Thanks!
