Custom DNS for Email Account at WebHostingPad.com
-
Greetings. I have a domain name, womenqc.com, and email only account at webhostingpad.com. The website itself is hosted on WordPress. Webhostingpad.com says to set the dns record to mx101.webhostingpad.com with a priority of 0. I set up the DNS record as MX 101 webhostingpad.com. but do not know how to set the priority to 0. I’m getting the following error message when attempting to send an email to the email account I set up, (email visible only to moderators and staff), “451 Temporary local problem – please try later” for the past two days. When I asked the technical support staff at webhostingpad.com they did not provide any other values such as TXT or CName, just the MX record. I’ve searched WordPress support and the forums without much luck. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
For an MX record pointing to mx101.webhostingpad.com with a priority of 0, you’ll need to enter this on your custom DNS page:
MX 0 mx101.webhostingpad.com.
I see you have the record in that format now, so you’re all set. Email records like that usually start working within a few hours after adding them on this end.
If you continue to have any trouble with that, please let me know. :)

Thank you for confirming the format. It took some digging but I found an example that gave me the format in someone else’s question on WordPress. Should I be concerned there are no values for TXT and Cname? Thank you for your help.

Hi there,
No, you don’t need to be concerned that there’s only the one MX record. Each email provider sets things up a bit differently, so if they only gave you one record that’s all you should need to add on this end. :)

Thank you! This is the first site I’ve set up this way so was concerned, particularly when using a company for the email only account.
