Custom Domain
-
If I create a custom domain for my blog and eliminate the .wordpress at the end:
1. Will I keep all of my subscribers?
2. If people go to the old domain “learnwiseblog.wordpress.com” will it automatically redirect them to the new one, “learnwiseblog.com”?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
The answer to both of your questions is yes! :)
Here’s our guide to purchasing a new domain:

That forum doesn’t have any further information about my 2 questions. Can you expand on how it will work regarding my subscribers and the redirection of the blog?
Thanks!

When you map a domain to your WordPress.com site, nothing really changes about your site. Your entire site lives at learnwiseblog.wordpress.com. In order to use a different domain, we do something called mapping. This essentially puts your domain on that existing site.
But if you ever decide to change your domain, or no longer use a domain, your site will still be available at learnwiseblog.wordpress.com.
Essentially, our system sees your site as learnwiseblog.wordpress.com no matter what. So your subscribers are linked to learnwiseblog.wordpress.com no matter what domain you map to that site.
I know this can get a little confusing. Let me know if you have any other questions.
