Custom Domain
-
I want a custom domain, and use it for my account on wordpress.com. After some time its pages will be indexed through google. But what if i stop paying my custom domain name or another reason i cant use my custom domain anymore. Will the pages still be indexed through Google and when someone click on the page (with the custom domain) will it automatically redirect to the domain on wordpress.com without the custom domain. I want the articles still be accessible also when i dont longer have the custom domain name.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello!
Once a domain name expires, it will no longer function. If someone clicks on a Google search link to an expired domain, they’ll see something like this.
If you’re concerned about this, just use your demolukken.wordpress.com, site.
Google is pretty quick on removing dead domains from it’s index as well.
Hope that helps!

Hi there,
Will the pages still be indexed through Google and when someone click on the page (with the custom domain) will it automatically redirect to the domain on wordpress.com without the custom domain
If you remove your custom domain, your content will be re-indexed by search engines at the free address. So for a few weeks search results should still show the custom domain, or it won’t show any results at all, and then it will start showing the free URL.
However, traffic will not be redirected. To redirect traffic from domain A to domain B you need to own domain A, no exceptions. So if you let a domain expire, the domain stops working, period.
But all your content will still be accessible at the free address we give you.
