custom permalink not working

Hello,
I tried to update my permalink by using my own custom one. After I saved it the pop up said it was updated, but it never changed. And when I tried to access it, a 404 error page came up. Does it take some time for the update to be processed? Thank you. -

No, it means that we need a link to the site you need help with to make sure you are posting in the correct forum. We have many self-hosted WordPress users coming here for help but don’t realize they are in the wrong forum. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Since that site is self-hosted, you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where the software you are using is supported. We cannot change permalinks here at wordpress.COM so we know nothing about them.
