Custom Template

    I had a web designer build me a custom website using wordpress. I’m an old school dreamweaver/ftp type so this is all very new to me. How do I upload my files to wordpress so that my template will show up the way I have it? Do I need to upgrade my account here to have this option available? There are tons of files in the .zip he gave me, a lot of which include wp files. I’m unable to open the index.html to show an offline webpage as well.

    http://paragonhomesolutions.wordpress.com/ is a free WordPress.com blog. If that’s what he “set up” for you, I hope you didn’t pay him. You cannot load custom themes on a WP.com blog, for security reasons. You can’t use FTP or access the php files either. There is no upgrade that will change that.

    What you need is a paid host like Bluehost and an install of WordPress.ORG software. Then it’s easy. Instructions are at WordPress.org.
